Privacy Policy

This policy explains what TikiType ("we", "us") collects when you use tikitype.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. TikiType is a competitive typing platform: you can test your typing speed, practice, compete in ranked typing races, climb the leaderboards, and track your progress over time. Creating an account lets you save your results and competitive progress.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, username, and password (stored only as a hash by our authentication provider — we never see or store your plain password).
  • Google sign-in: if you choose "Continue with Google", we receive your name, email address and profile picture URL from your Google account, solely to create and sign you into your TikiType account. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not access your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, contacts or any other Google data.
  • Gameplay data: typing test and race results (words per minute, accuracy, mistyped keys, keystroke timing used for ranked anti-cheat integrity checks), match history, Elo rating and rank, streaks, friends and friend races, and preferences such as your theme and Tiki totem look.
  • Technical data: basic server logs such as browser type and IP address, used for security, abuse prevention and keeping the service running.
  • Local browser storage: if you use TikiType without an account, your guest progress and some settings are stored only in your own browser's local storage and are not sent to us as account data. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use it

  • To create, secure and sign you into your account.
  • To run the game: saving your typing results, ranked matchmaking, Elo ratings, leaderboards, friends and races.
  • To detect cheating and abuse in ranked play.
  • To send essential account emails (such as email verification or password reset). We do not send marketing email.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use Google user data for advertising, for selling to data brokers, or to train AI/ML models.

What other players can see

Your username, Tiki totem look, rank, Elo rating, public statistics and match results are visible to other players on leaderboards, profiles and race screens. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Service providers and sharing

TikiType is hosted and operated using Lovable Cloud, which provides our hosting, database, authentication and file storage infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations and only to operate the service. If you sign in with Google, Google acts as an identity provider under its own privacy policy. We do not share your personal data with any other third parties, except when required by law.

Google user data (Limited Use)

TikiType's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google sign-in data only to authenticate you and set up your TikiType profile — nothing else.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account and gameplay data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing us; we will complete deletion within 30 days, except where we must keep records by law. Guest data stored in your browser can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at the address below to exercise any of these rights.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and access to the database is restricted with row-level access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

TikiType is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will remove the account.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
